Issue 44 / Fall 2026

This Fall 2026 issue feels so tender and intimate. Although the writing contains many common poetic images and topics (the moon, birds, fear, loss, love, and language itself all make appearances), you won’t find these pieces common with their specificity and deeply personal revelations.

Issue 44 features poetry and short prose by Jared Beloff, Jo Angela Edwins, Ellen K. Fee, Dagne Forrest, Robbie Gamble, Violeta Garcia-Mendoza, Susan Grimm, Karen Paul Holmes, Sarah Horner, Katie Kemple, Anya Kirshbaum, Meg Eden Kuyatt, Danielle Lemay, Taylor Hamann Los, Daniel Lurie, Gessica Sakamoto Martini, James Davis May, Ryan McCarty, Sarah Mills, Li Ruan, August Ryan, Annette Sisson, Lesley Wheeler, and Chila Woychik.

In the pedagogy section, Jacob Butlett offers a story cube exercise, and Duane L. Herrmann shares about leading meditative writing sessions.

Special thanks to Emma Bolden and Crystal Stone for their thoughtful reviews of recent books by Arielle Hebert and Katie Kalisz, and thanks to Michael Garrigan and Whitney Rio-Ross for their engaging interviews with Denton Loving and Mary Ardery. We always admire writers who take time to celebrate and promote other writers’ work.

You can also celebrate and promote the writers in this issue by sharing their pieces and using the Tip the Author links below many of the author bios. Thanks for reading!
