Pregnant at the Taos Gorge

To my child I want to be famous
the way the Gorge is famous:
grand and calming all at once.

Solid underfoot as its bridge,
Eden-like to elk
small as dolls so far below.

I will be the breasts of clouds
that nurse the thirsty desert
into flower-covered bloom.
