Equilibrium

The globe balances delicately
on platinum spindles
and shallow divots.
A light nudge with a finger or two
sets it in motion, its soft, even orbit
pleasing, easy to follow,
controlled by tension and
gentle manipulation.
I lay my palm across the Ohio River
and flick my wrist as hard as I can.
